bonded screed costs

composite screed

Bonded screed is ideal for surfaces that can withstand particularly high mechanical loads but do not necessarily have to be heat or sound insulating. Here, the screed is firmly bonded to the subsurface without an insulating or separating layer being placed in between. Bonded screed can be made from all types of screed, each of which has its own specific product and installation properties.

Suitable areas of application for bonded screed

Due to its high resilience and resilience, bonded screed is ideal for commercially used areas such as industrial and commercial halls or parking lots. Bonded screed is also ideal in private workshops and garages, as well as in basements – provided these are not used as hobby or living rooms. Due to its lack of sound and heat insulation, bonded screed is not suitable for living spaces.

Professionally laid bonded screed: the costs

There are many factors that affect the price of bonded screed. The most important are the size of the area, the type and thickness of the screed and the nature of the substrate, which affect the costs as follows:

  1. Size of the area: The simple principle applies here that the bonded screed costs increase with the size of the area. For the sake of simplicity, the prices for bonded screed are therefore given per m². Alternatively, under certain conditions, a fixed price is also possible, which applies to an area up to a certain size (e.g. up to 100 m²). We would be happy to explain to you in a personal consultation which requirements must be met for this.
  2. Type of screed: Bonded screed can be laid with different types of screed (e.g. cement, mastic asphalt, synthetic resin, magnesia screed). Each type of screed is characterized by a certain price and is easier or more complicated to process, so the amount of work can also vary, which is reflected in different prices.
  3. Screed thickness: Basically, screed can be between 5 and 150 mm thick. However, due to the direct connection between bonded screed and substrate, the thickness does not vary that much with this screed construction. It ranges from around 25 mm (mastic asphalt screed) to 45-50 mm (cement screed). For the same type of screed, a thicker screed requires more and more material, which can increase the cost of the bonded screed.
  4. Subfloor condition: If the subfloor is very uneven, cracked or even shows signs of cracking, certain preparations (e.g. grinding, milling or shot blasting as well as cleaning and vacuuming) are required before the screed can be laid. This additional work creates additional costs.

Without knowing these factors, it is not possible to give a general price quote. For a cost estimate, please contact us and talk to us about your project and show us the local conditions. We would then be happy to make you an individual offer for your bonded screed – with or without substrate preparation, if desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of screed does bonded screed belong to?

Strictly speaking, bonded screed is not a type of screed, but rather a form of screed construction that can be made from all types of screed (e.g. cement, synthetic resin, magnesia screed). It is important for good adhesion that the same material is selected for the bonded screed as for the floor.

What factors influence bonded screed costs?

Factors that have an impact on the price of bonded screed are: size of the area, type of screed and other materials used, screed thickness and any subfloor preparation that may be required before laying the screed.

Is bonded screed cheaper than floating screed?
Yes, because with bonded screed there is no insulating intermediate layer as with floating screed. This means no insulating material is required and the screed is laid faster and with less work. All of this has the consequence that the costs are significantly lower than with a floating screed.
