Info: The screed is laid on a gradient. This means that the screed is thinner in the entrance area (at least 45 mm) and the thickness increases towards the rear to up to 80 mm. This allows water to drain away if necessary, the flooring lasts longer and the atmosphere in the garage remains constant.

Screed in the garage ensures a safe surface

No flying chippings, no slipping or breaking and yet the screed garage costs are kept within limits. With cement screed, small and large irregularities can be easily evened out. It is also moisture-resistant and therefore suitable for outdoor use. Even in particularly difficult conditions, on uneven ground or with internal pipes, screed can be laid in the garage without any problems.

Questions and answers

Which screed is suitable for the garage?

Separating layer screed and bonded screed are suitable for the garage, with the former being the best choice. Separating layer screed is moisture-resistant, suitable for outdoor areas and is inexpensive to purchase and install.

What thickness must garage screed have?

The standard garage screed has a thickness of at least 45 mm to 80 mm and is laid sloping down towards the entrance area to create a gradient. This allows excess water to drain away if necessary, which extends the longevity of your cement screed.

What happens if 45 mm - 80 mm cannot be laid in my garage?

If there is not enough space in your garage for a conventional cement screed, a special composite screed can also be used. The required thickness here is just 25 mm. This screed can therefore be used for garages with particularly low ceilings.

Does garage screed need insulation?

Yes, cement screed in the garage should be insulated to create a frost-free environment. Mineral materials are mainly used for insulation, but polystyrene or similar materials are also used.

How long does it take for the garage screed to dry?

The drying time for garage screed is usually several weeks, which should always be taken into account when planning the construction. If necessary, the drying time can be reduced by adding special agents.

Why do you need a slope for garage screed?

The garage floor should always have a forward slope so that excess water can drain away. This extends the durability of your garage screed and prevents mold.

Can I get an individual quote for the garage screed costs?

You will of course receive an individual, non-binding and free quote for your construction project. Contact us today and benefit from the many years of expertise of real professionals.
