Microcement - Decorative coatings
Decorative coatings - why microcement is a first-class solution
If a decorative coating is required, microcement is a premium solution. Thanks to its excellent adhesion, the material, which consists of cement, additives, water-based resins and mineral pigments, is ideal for use on many different horizontal and vertical surfaces. Not much preparation is required. You can always apply microcement directly to the existing substrate. This saves time and money. But microcement as a building material can do so much more! In the following article, we will show you exactly what it can do and how you can make the most of its strengths.
Microcement: you benefit from these properties in the long term
Whether classic wall and floor tiles, plaster and plasterboard, elegant marble or trendy terrazzo - microcement can be easily and conveniently applied to many different surfaces as an ultra-modern, seamless coating. And the best thing is that a microcement coating is not only suitable for floors and walls, but also for ceilings, stairs and even furniture or complete swimming pools. The coating works both indoors and outdoors.
This versatility makes microcement a real all-rounder that always offers you the best possible performance for renovation work and similar projects. It is not for nothing that this flexible building material is so frequently used in the renovation of industrial buildings, office and commercial premises, restaurants, sports centers and similar large areas as well as private homes.
This is certainly also due to the fact that the coating can always be applied without a great deal of work and in the shortest possible time, regardless of the existing substrate. This is guaranteed not least by the low thickness of just three millimetres. Quick and easy work is pre-programmed here.
Microcement brings color to every room and every area
In contrast, renovation work usually involves a considerable amount of work. This starts with normal painting work. Removing wallpaper and scraping off remnants, smoothing out uneven areas of plaster, sealing drill holes - there are many tasks to be done before you even start with the actual embellishment.
With microcement, however, you now have a flexible floor covering that makes classic renovation work completely unnecessary in some cases. Even if the term microcement initially sounds like gray concrete walls and dreariness, exactly the opposite is the case. Microcement brings color back into your rooms and outdoor areas. You hardly have to make any compromises.
Jointless working brings advantages, especially for large areas
The spectrum of colors and shades ranges from different shades of grey and beige to bold colors and a variety of special colors. There is a suitable color constellation for every style and every interior thanks to the corresponding admixtures. In this way, all rooms and areas are given exactly the colors that match your own ideas. With a microcement coating, you can turn normal floors and walls into truly unique pieces that take the surroundings and atmosphere to a whole new level - and all without the need for stripping and masking. In contrast to wallpaper, for example, there is no need to worry about cutting edges. This is because microcement is always seamless. This is a major advantage, especially when larger surfaces and areas are to be renovated.
Microcement also scores points for its particularly high hardness and stability
Compared to other decorative coatings, microcement also offers particularly high hardness, stability and resistance. This makes the special coating ideal for use at any time, even in heavily frequented rooms, halls and many other areas. In practice, the hardness and strength ultimately achieved is influenced by various factors.
This applies, for example, to the substrate for the coating, the chosen surface finish or the microcement used. There may well be small differences here, but these are generally in the nuance range. The only materials that are not suitable for a covering with microcement are those that expand to varying degrees. A typical example of this is natural wood or substrates that consist of components with different expansion rates.
However, microcement can be used without any problems on floors with underfloor heating, for example. In this case, however, it is recommended that you adhere to or follow the appropriate protocol for switching on the underfloor heating. This is important as rapid and sharp temperature changes can cause small cracks to form in the screed. In the worst case scenario, uncontrolled heating can cause these to be reproduced in the microcement.
Surface finish: This can further enhance functionality and appearance
Microcement can also be used in wet areas such as shower trays, bathtubs and washbasins. Although the surface is not waterproof from the outset, you can change this with a sealant as a finish. This further increases the already wide range of applications for microcement. The covering also generally forms an extremely functional and visually attractive symbiosis with decorative finish options.
With tiles, on the other hand, you can choose between a glossy or matt finish, for example. Microcement has no reservations about the finish chosen in each case, but can be excellently combined with both surfaces. In addition, microcement itself functions as a kind of finish. The durability and strength of the coating in particular result in practical properties that can simplify everyday life.
Stains, children's paintings or splashes from cooking in the kitchen can be easily wiped off without leaving any residue. Microcement also protects against scratch marks far more effectively than other optical coatings and also, for example, than plaster, which is nowhere near as resistant as plaster. Microcement can therefore generate a whole range of benefits, both visually and functionally.
Renovating without dirt and debris - microcement makes it possible
For home and apartment owners, tenants or tenant households or even company owners and employees, renovating their own rooms is often an event that heralds a structural or stylistic upheaval and brings new freshness to the immediate surroundings. However, the anticipation and desire for a new residential or office character can quickly turn into frustration.
Because renovating with conventional materials and a traditional, classic approach always involves a lot of noise, dust, dirt, waste and rubble - quite apart from the work involved. This quickly puts you in a bad mood and also interferes with your normal daily routine. And anyone who has ever removed stubbornly sticky wallpaper residue from a wall really gets to know the term Sisyphean task in a practical sense.
With a microcement covering, there is no need to remove tiles, mask off walls for painting work or scrape off wallpaper residue. Depending on the color and texture, floors, walls, ceilings or even stairs, for example, can be given a fresh cell treatment without the usual dirt and debris thanks to a microcement covering. The use of microcement is therefore always worthwhile in several respects.
