[ COMPOSITE SCREED COSTS AT A GLANCE ]

Composite screed costs

For surfaces that can withstand particularly high mechanical loads but do not necessarily need to be heat or sound insulating, a bonded screed is a good choice. In this case, the screed is firmly bonded to the substrate without an insulating or separating layer being laid in between. Bonded screed can be made from all types of screed, each of which has its own specific product and installation properties.

Suitable areas of application for bonded screed

Due to its high load-bearing capacity and resistance, bonded screed is ideal for commercially used areas such as industrial and commercial buildings or parking lots. Composite screed is also suitable for private workshops and garages, as well as basements - provided they are not used as hobby rooms or living spaces. This is because composite screed is not suitable for living spaces due to its lack of sound and heat insulation.

Professionally laid bonded screed: the costs

There are many factors that influence the price of bonded screed. The most important are the size of the area, the screed type and thickness and the condition of the substrate, which affect the cost as follows:

  1. Area size: The simple principle here is that the larger the area, the higher the cost of the bonded screed. For the sake of simplicity, the prices for bonded screed are therefore quoted per m². Alternatively, a fixed price is also possible under certain conditions, which applies to an area up to a certain size (e.g. up to 100 m²). We will be happy to explain to you in a personal consultation what conditions must be met for this.
  2. Screed type: Bonded screed can be laid with different types of screed (e.g. cement, mastic asphalt, synthetic resin, magnesia screed). Each type of screed is characterized by a certain price and is easier or more complicated to work with, so that the amount of work involved can also vary, which is reflected in different prices.
  3. Screed thickness: In principle, bonded screed (cement screed) can be between 20 and 50 mm thick. However, due to the direct connection between the bonded screed and the substrate, the thickness of this screed construction does not vary as much. It ranges from around 25 mm (mastic asphalt screed) to 45-50 mm (cement screed). For the same type of screed, a thicker screed always requires more material, which can increase the cost of the bonded screed.
  4. Subfloor condition: If the subfloor is very uneven, cracked or even chipped, certain preparations (e.g. grinding, milling or shot blasting as well as cleaning and vacuuming) are required before the screed can be laid. This additional work incurs further costs.

Without knowing these factors, it is not possible to give a general price. For a cost estimate, please simply contact us and talk to us about your project and show us the conditions on site. We will then be happy to provide you with an individual quote for your bonded screed - with or without substrate preparation if required.

[FAQs]

Do you have any questions?

What type of screed does bonded screed belong to?

Strictly speaking, bonded screed is not a type of screed, but rather a type of screed construction that can be made from all types of screed (e.g. cement, synthetic resin, magnesia screed). To ensure good adhesion, it is important that the same material is selected for the bonded screed as for the floor.

What factors influence the composite screed costs?

Factors that have an influence on the price of bonded screed are: Size of the area, type of screed and other materials used, screed thickness and any substrate preparation required before laying the screed.

Is bonded screed cheaper than floating screed?
Yes, because with bonded screed there is no insulating intermediate layer as with floating screed. This means that no insulating material is required and the screed is laid more quickly and with less work. As a result, the costs are significantly lower than with a floating screed.
